Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh campaigns for BJP in Pithoragarh Civic Polls.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has called on the public to back the BJP’s mayoral candidate, Kalpana Devlal, and its councillor candidates in the Pithoragarh municipal corporation elections on January 23.

Speaking at a public meeting, CM Dhami emphasised the party’s vision of making Pithoragarh a model city. He highlighted plans to transform the area into a clean, green, and well-developed city through the BJP's "double-engine government," which aligns state and local governance for effective progress.

"Our aim is to make Pithoragarh an ideal and beautiful city. Electing BJP in these polls will ensure planned development and a cleaner, greener future," said Dhami.

The Chief Minister also addressed concerns about "spit jihad," an incident reported in Bageshwar, assuring the public that strict actions would be taken to maintain cleanliness and discipline.

"Our government is committed to cleanliness and will not tolerate such practices. Those responsible will face strict action," he assured.

Dhami criticised the Congress, accusing them of using divisive tactics for political gain. He alleged that Congress has promoted "land jihad" in Uttarakhand and undermined the construction of the Ram temple.

"Congress has disrespected our cultural values for its vote bank politics. The party is divided in Pithoragarh, and supporting BJP is the only way to ensure real development in the region," he stated.

Highlighting the BJP government’s efforts to address illegal land acquisitions, Dhami mentioned that 750 cases of land purchases violating regulations are under review. "This shows our dedication to fairness and transparency," he added.

The meeting drew significant public support, especially from the youth, whose enthusiastic slogans briefly interrupted Dhami’s speech. He paused to restore calm before continuing.

The upcoming municipal elections in Pithoragarh are seen as a critical test of the BJP’s agenda for local development, law enforcement, and governance.
