As announced by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Divyang Pension Scheme has now been made simpler, just like the Old Age Pension Scheme run by the Social Welfare Department, the Uttarakhand government said in a release.
According to a government release, Social Welfare Secretary Sridhar Babu Addanki has written to the department’s director with new guidelines. Now, people with disabilities whose monthly family income is under ₹4,000 can receive the pension even if their sons or grandsons are over 20 years old. Besides, the beneficiaries of Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, whose sons or grandsons are 20 years or more, are also eligible for pension.
Earlier in the day, CM Dhami inaugurated Kendriya Vidyalaya in Khatima, built at a cost of ₹26.23 crore. The event was part of the All-India Education Samagam held in Khatima. He also planted saplings on the school campus.
Dhami said these are proud and joyful moments for everyone. The release mentioned that as the country marks five years of a new revolution in education, a new era of knowledge and science is also beginning in Khatima.
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on behalf of Khatima residents for the gift of Kendriya Vidyalaya, which will benefit children of the army, paramilitary forces, and other personnel.
Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also inaugurated the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2025 in New Delhi to mark five years of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The event brought together educators, policymakers, and experts to review progress and plan ahead.
