Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday transferred Rs 146.32 crore in pension benefits to 9,87,017 beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The payments were made under various pension schemes run by the Social Welfare Department for July 2026.
Dhami said the state government is committed to supporting people from all sections of society. He said pension payments are being sent directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts in a timely and transparent manner. This ensures that eligible people can receive government assistance without unnecessary delays. He said the government is focused on taking welfare schemes to people at the grassroots level.
The Chief Minister said vulnerable groups are an important part of the government's welfare efforts. He said the administration wants to ensure that elderly people, widows and persons with disabilities do not have to repeatedly visit government offices to receive their pension benefits.
"Our resolve is to ensure that every eligible citizen receives their rightful benefits with dignity, on time and without any inconvenience," he said. Dhami also said that, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is working to strengthen Uttarakhand and make it self-reliant. He said the government is following the principles of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas. According to him, the state's progress can only be achieved when every section of society develops and benefits.
Social Welfare Minister Khajan Das said the department has released the pension instalment for July 2026. He said 9,87,017 people received benefits under different pension schemes during the month. This includes around 2.15 lakh beneficiaries covered under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) of the Union Ministry of Rural Development. Their payments are currently being processed through the new SNA-SPARSH system.
The Social Welfare Department said a total of 9,87,017 beneficiaries received pension support in July, with Rs 146.32 crore released under various schemes.
Under the Old Age Pension Scheme, 6,15,628 beneficiaries received Rs 1,500 each per month. A total of Rs 92.34 crore was disbursed under the scheme. The Widow Pension Scheme covered 2,36,983 beneficiaries, who also received Rs 1,500 each. The total amount released was Rs 35.54 crore.
Under the Disability Pension Scheme, 89,128 beneficiaries received Rs 1,500 each, taking the total disbursement to Rs 13.36 crore. The Farmer Pension Scheme covered 27,288 beneficiaries, who received Rs 1,200 each. The total amount released under this scheme was Rs 3.20 crore.
The Abandoned Women's Pension Scheme provided Rs 1,200 each to 8,284 beneficiaries, with Rs 99.408 lakh disbursed. Another 7,383 beneficiaries under the Maintenance Grant scheme received Rs 700 each, taking the total payment to Rs 51.68 lakh.
Under the Teelu Rauteli Pension Scheme, 2,196 beneficiaries received Rs 1,200 each, with Rs 26.35 lakh released. The Dwarf Pension Scheme covered 127 beneficiaries, who received Rs 1,200 each, amounting to Rs 1.524 lakh.
