Union Rural Development and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has written to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and informed him that the Central Government will give more funds to the state for the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP), according to a press release from the CM’s office.
Chouhan appreciated Uttarakhand’s active role in the Centre’s efforts to bring positive change in rural India. He expressed confidence that under CM Dhami’s leadership, the state will achieve great progress in implementing the land records programme in the state.
Earlier, CM Dhami had written to the Union Minister requesting special financial assistance of ₹478.50 crore for Uttarakhand under Central Sectoral Scheme of the Ministry of Rural Development. Out of this, Dhami had asked for ₹350 crore for survey/resurvey of the entire land in the state using modern survey technology like Lidar. He also requested funds for the construction of modern record rooms being built at the tehsil level.
In response, the Union Minister has confirmed that the Centre will provide full support in the work of pilot testing of surveys in five villages using DILRMP funds already available.
Depending on the success of these pilot projects, more funds will be given to the state for a full-scale land survey across rural Uttarakhand. The pending amount for the construction of modern record rooms will also be released soon.
Chouhan also shared that the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is working on providing financial help to Uttarakhand under the Agri Stack program, and he is personally overseeing the matter.
CM Dhami said the state government is committed to enforcing strong land laws and paying special attention to finish the important task of digitisation of land records on time.
"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state of Uttarakhand is working with commitment to play a leading role in the nationwide campaign to develop a modern and transparent land management system in line with the vision of Digital India. The cooperation and support being provided by the Central Government in this direction will give more impetus to our efforts for which the state government is grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan," Dhami said.
