Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat has announced that 1,300 vacant Class IV positions in government hospitals and health centers across the state will soon be filled. He has directed officials to complete all necessary procedures and begin recruitment through outsourcing.
During a departmental review meeting at the government residence in Yamuna Colony on Friday, Dr. Rawat stressed the need to fill these positions quickly to improve healthcare services. He urged officials to speed up the recruitment process, as many districts are facing staff shortages.
The vacancies are spread across various districts, with the highest number in Nainital, followed by Chamoli, Pithoragarh, and Haridwar. Other districts, including Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Udham Singh Nagar, Almora, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Champawat, and Bageshwar, also have several openings.
To further improve healthcare services, Dr. Rawat instructed officials to assess the needs of district and sub-district hospitals. He also emphasized the importance of keeping hospitals clean, changing bed sheets daily for patients, putting up information boards, and reducing ambulance response time.

Additionally, he directed officials to improve hospital canteens, provide proper housing for doctors, and effectively implement the TB-Free India and Anemia-Free India campaigns.
Several senior health officials attended the meeting, including Health Secretary Dr. R Rajesh Kumar, Mission Director NHM Swati Bhadauria, Additional Health Secretaries Anand Srivastava and Anuradha Pal, Director General of Health (in charge) Dr. Sunita Tamta, and Dr. Ajit Mohan Johri. They discussed strategies to implement the minister’s directives effectively.
With these initiatives, the Uttarakhand government aims to strengthen its healthcare system and ensure better medical services for its citizens.
