Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Thursday urged Union Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan to expedite the approval of 637 habitations which have not been included in Phase 4 of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) due to pending verification.
During a meeting in New Delhi with Union Minister Kamlesh Paswan, Singh highlighted that 57 per cent of the state’s rural roads have been constructed under PMGSY. He noted that despite an annual expenditure of ₹250 crore on road maintenance, the state continues to face financial challenges due to its difficult terrain, a statement said.
The minister requested additional funds for road maintenance in the current financial year and informed the Rural Development Minister that three roads built under Phase 1 of the scheme are in need of upgradation.
Singh also thanked the Union Minister for approving the road projects under Phase 3 of the PMGSY.
Minister Paswan assured all possible support to the state, the statement added.
