Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLA and former Minister T Harish Rao on Saturday criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi following multiple food poisoning cases reported from the state's government-run schools.

Harish Rao mocked the Chief Minister's repeated boasts about "Telangana Vision 2047," stating, "This is not Vision 2047— it has turned into Poison 2047 for students."

The former Minister, accompanied by BRS MLAs Kaleru Venkatesh and Muta Gopal, visited students from the Telangana Minority Welfare Residential School, Bagh Lingampally, who are undergoing treatment at Government Hospital King Koti for food poisoning. He later came down heavily on the State government, alleging that Revanth Reddy has become "poison for children."

Harish Rao pointed out that food poisoning cases are being reported daily, citing incidents on Friday at the Minority Welfare School in Bagh Lingampally and the Government School Chandu Nayak Thanda in Madhapur. He also highlighted a recent incident where BC Welfare Residential School Shameerpet students approached police over reports of worms in their rice.

He contrasted the current situation with the previous BRS government under K Chandrashekhar Rao, saying students were then served quality food made with fine rice. Now, he claimed, children in government schools are constantly at risk due to food issues and are complaining of being served coarse, improperly cooked, and inadequate meals. Harish Rao attacked the Chief Minister for his frequent travel, noting that Revanth Reddy has visited Delhi 61 times in the last two years but has failed to visit the students who have fallen ill on several occasions.

Taking a dig at the Telangana Congress government’s slogan, "Telangana Rising," he argued it exists only in advertisements, while in reality, gurukul and government school students are falling sick in hospitals. "What is rising is corruption, lawlessness, arrogance and land grabbing in the state," he said.

The former Minister also questioned Rahul Gandhi, who took responsibility for the implementation of the Congress's six guarantees, for not visiting the state following the deaths of 300 farmers, 160 auto drivers, and 116 students.

He questioned the MP's priorities, pointing out that despite severe issues, Rahul Gandhi was visiting the state merely to watch a football match with Lionel Messi. "When students are suffering after eating rice full of worms in Gurukul schools, don’t you have the responsibility to question your Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy," he asked the Congress MP.

Concluding his critique, Harish Rao stated that the Chief Minister and Education Minister Revanth Reddy have utterly failed, arguing that instead of boasting about a three-trillion-dollar economy and Future City, the CM should first ensure hostel children are served rice without worms.
