The water supply in Dehradun has been partially restored after last week’s cloudbursts and floods damaged several key water sources and pipelines. Officials said the supply was still limited to once a day until full repairs are completed.
Heavy rain, floods, and landslides on September 15–16 caused widespread damage, affecting nearly half a dozen drinking water sources and their pipelines. The damaged water sources include Bijapur Head, Bandal Head, Kesarwala Head, Purkul Head, and Shahanshahi Head/Shikhar Fall Head.
This disruption impacted about 2.35 lakh people in over 40 areas of Dehradun. Temporary repairs were completed by September 20, which allowed partial restoration. But permanent restoration is still pending, so water will be supplied only once daily, either in the morning or evening.
Officials have urged residents to use water carefully until full supply is restored.
The natural calamities claimed 31 lives, with three people still missing and four injured. The disasters also damaged houses, roads, and bridges in nine locations, including Sahasradhara, Shikhar Falls, Jharipani, and Maldevta.
Rescue and repair work is underway, with local authorities focusing on restoring essential services and infrastructure.
