A discovery in Dalkhola, North Dinajpur, once again evoked memories of the recent tragic incidents in the state Dattapukur and Amdanga after the body of a woman, with her throat slit, was found on the banks of the Sudhani river on Saturday morning. The woman had reportedly been missing since Friday, and police suspect she was raped and murdered.
Police have identified the victim as a resident of Karandighi Raniganj panchayat area. According to locals, she left her home on Friday afternoon but did not return. Her family filed a missing person complaint with the police that evening.
The following morning, her lifeless body was discovered on the riverbank.
The location where the body was found is approximately one and a half kilometers from the victim’s residence. “Multiple injury marks were found on the body, leading to believe she was sexually assaulted before being killed and dumped at the site. The assassins may have strangled her before slitting her throat. We are now waiting for the autopsy report for further insights,” said a police officer.
Just days ago, another horrifying case emerged in Amdanga in North 24 Parganas district, where a half-burnt, naked body of a woman was recovered from farmland. Investigators suspect that she was murdered elsewhere, burned, and then abandoned in an attempt to erase evidence.
