The three-day TDP Mahanadu, an annual conclave of the ruling party in Andhra Pradesh, started at Kadapa in the Rayalaseema region on Tuesday. It is scheduled from May 27 to 29.
Addressing his party conclave, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said over the past 43 years, the TDP has faced numerous challenges. Many people said that the party was finished, but its flag has always flown high.
Telugu Desam Party has played a key role in several decisions taken by various governments at the Centre and the party is a trendsetter for welfare, reforms and development, added party supremo Naidu. "TDP played a key role in many decisions taken by the central governments (at different times). What AP thinks today India thinks tomorrow, It has been proven several times,” the CM said.
He said the party cadre suffered a lot during the previous YSRCP regime and many TDP workers lost their lives.

There are several political parties in the country. But TDP is the only party which influenced people's lives, he further said. “TDP is one of the strongest parties in the country when it comes to organisational strength,” Naidu added. He said the party has completed a membership drive in just 45 days enrolling one crore members.
Holding the conclave at Kadapa holds a symbolic value as the National Democratic Alliance of TDP, Bharatiya Janata Party and Janasena made major political inroads during the 2024 polls in the Rayalaseema region, considered to be the bastion of the YSR family.
The Mahanadu features a plethora of activities which encompass introspection, celebration and strategic direction, including the election of the 43-year-old party's national president.
"On the opening day on May 27, discussions will be held with the party's representatives on organisational structure and future action plan, besides basic principles of the party, release of six formulas, along with amendments to the rules and regulations of the party," said a press release from TDP.
Opening day activities will include a photo exhibition, blood donation camp, homage to deceased party leaders and activists, presentation of party financial statement among others.
TDP general secretary and IT Minister Nara Lokesh will introduce leadership and ideological revamp of the party through six resolutions designed to set ideological and administrative vision for several decades to come.
