The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to hold a legislative meeting today to finalise the Chief Minister of Delhi, marking its return to power in the capital after 27 years.
The party secured a decisive victory over the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the recent assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats.
The decision on who will lead the Delhi government is expected to be announced following today’s meeting.
The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to be held on February 20 at 4:30 pm at Ram Lila Maidan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states, National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders, Union Ministers, and other dignitaries are expected to attend the event, according to senior BJP sources.
A cultural programme featuring music and performances will precede the formal ceremony.

Approximately 30,000 guests, including Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders, spiritual figures, industrialists, and celebrities, have been invited. Additionally, BJP workers from other states who contributed to the party’s electoral campaign in Delhi will also be present.
BJP Member of Parliament Yogender Chandolia confirmed that preparations for the ceremony were proceeding swiftly.
"Preparations are in full swing at Ram Lila Maidan. Continued meetings are being held. A meeting regarding preparations is also being held. A large number of people will be participating (in the ceremony)," Chandolia said
He further expressed the party's enthusiasm following its landmark victory.
"The Prime Minister is going to be there. Along with the cabinet, the Chief Ministers of the states (BJP) will also be there. It will be a grand event because, after 27 years, we are going to form our government in Delhi... BJP has got a chance to form the government in Delhi. The people of Delhi have given the mandate to Narendra Modi ji...," Chandolia added.
On Monday, a key meeting was held at the BJP headquarters to oversee the arrangements for the oath-taking ceremony. BJP’s National General Secretary Vinod Tawde and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva were present to finalise the details.
