A 40-year-old woman devotee from Madhya Pradesh and an elderly man from Maharashtra died in separate incidents near Yamunotri Dham, officials said on Monday. Pratima Mishra of Indore suffered a cardiac arrest late Sunday night while travelling towards the shrine, officials said.
Dr Hardev Singh Panwar of the Janki Chatti Primary Health Centre said her husband, Dharmendra Mishra, brought her to the health facility in an unconscious condition around midnight, where doctors declared her brought dead. “The cause of death was cardiac arrest,” Dr Panwar said.
In another incident at Janki Chatti, a 65-year-old pilgrim from Nashik in Maharashtra, identified as Uday Gajanan Tambe, died on Sunday afternoon. Officials said a Nepalese labourer brought him to the Primary Health Centre in an unconscious state at around 3.45 pm.
Medical staff declared him dead and handed over the body to the police for further legal procedures.
