A video of two policemen rescuing a drowning woman from a canal in Uttarakhand has gone viral. The video, about one and a half minutes long, shows the officers running along the canal banks before jumping in to save her.
One officer swims towards the woman, while his colleague helps complete the rescue.
The incident took place in Roorkee, a city in Uttarakhand's Haridwar district. The woman, an MA student, reportedly jumped into the canal due to mental stress. Witnesses saw her and immediately raised an alarm.
Additional Sub-Inspector Manoj Sharma and Head Constable Kripa Ram, who were patrolling the area as part of the "Roorkee Hawk 14" team, quickly responded. They rushed to the canal and pulled the woman out. She was unconscious when they rescued her.
The policemen provided first aid, draining water from her stomach before taking her to the civil hospital. She is currently receiving treatment, and her family has been informed.
The officers are being widely praised for their bravery. The Uttarakhand Police shared the video on X (formerly Twitter), calling their actions an example of duty and humanity. Locals have also appreciated their quick response and courage.
