A tragic incident has been reported from Hyderabad, where a woman and her two minor sons were found dead inside their residence, under the jurisdiction of Kukatpally police station, on Tuesday. Police suspect the deaths occurred following prolonged domestic distress in the family.
The deceased woman, identified as Sravanthi, was living with her husband, Boda Praveen, and their two sons—Karthik (12) and Kaushik (10)—in Raghavendra Society near Moosapet. The family had originally migrated from the Warangal district in search of work.
According to police sources, Praveen is employed in the construction sector, while Sravanthi worked as a domestic help.
“The couple had been experiencing serious marital discord for over a year, which escalated after Praveen allegedly entered into a second marriage,” said a police officer.
Neighbours and sources alleged that frequent arguments took place at the residence, with claims that Praveen often returned home intoxicated, and subjected Sravanthi to verbal and physical abuse. In an attempt to resolve the dispute, a community panchayat was recently convened in Narsampet, where elders intervened, and Praveen allegedly assured that he would change his behaviour. However, tensions reportedly resurfaced soon after.
The incident came to light on Tuesday afternoon when Praveen returned home and found the doors locked from the inside. With the assistance of neighbours, he forced entry into the house, where Sravanthi and the two children were found dead.
The case has taken a disturbing turn with police revealing that earlier in the day, the elder son, Karthik, had sent a WhatsApp message to his maternal uncle, indicating that his father had assaulted his mother the previous night.
Following the incident, anger erupted among Sravanthi’s relatives in Warangal. In a separate development, her family members allegedly vandalised Praveen’s house and set it on fire, holding him responsible for the deaths.
Senior police officials, including Balanagar Zone ACP Naresh and Kukatpally Circle Inspector K. Venkata Subbaro, visited the scene and initiated a detailed investigation. Police confirmed that Praveen has been taken into custody and is currently being interrogated.
Authorities stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and establish the circumstances leading to the deaths.
