A woman employee of a private company in Mohali died after she was allegedly attacked with a knife by a male colleague inside her workplace on Friday, officials said.
Police said initial findings suggest that the accused worked with the victim at the same firm. After the attack, he allegedly turned the weapon on himself and inflicted multiple injuries before being stopped.
The entire incident was recorded by a CCTV camera installed at the workplace, according to officials.
The woman and the accused were taken to Fortis Hospital in Mohali for treatment. Doctors later declared the woman dead, while the accused is undergoing medical care.
The victim was identified as Dimple, a resident of Patiala. The accused, Harvinder Mann, also known as Harry, remains in a critical condition.
Police at Phase 11 station have registered a case and begun a detailed investigation. Officials said they are examining all possible aspects to determine what led to the incident. More details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
