The outgoing Governor of the state of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, has emphasised the need to empower the female population of the country, saying on Sunday, “The progress of the country depends on the progress of half the population.” Shukla, who is about to assume the role of the Governor of the state of Telangana, reflected on his three-year tenure and emphasised the need to develop a work culture and become self-reliant.
During a final interaction with the press, the Governor expressed his appreciation for the public’s involvement in the fight against narcotics. While he acknowledged that drug abuse has seen a decline under his watch, he cautioned that the campaign must be accelerated to truly rid the state of the problem.
He also voiced his concern regarding health challenges in the region, particularly the stubborn rise in tuberculosis cases, which he suggested requires urgent attention.
Shukla concluded his remarks on a lighter note, joining the rest of the country in backing the national side. He extended his best wishes to the Indian team ahead of their T20 World Cup final against New Zealand, which is set to take place later this evening.
