YASHODA AI empowers Shimla law students with AI awareness.

In a move to bridge the gap between technology and education, YASHODA AI, a flagship initiative of the National Commission for Women (NCW) in collaboration with Future Shift Labs (FSL), conducted a workshop at Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla on Tuesday.

The interactive session aimed to equip law students with essential knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the justice system. The workshop highlighted how AI is reshaping judicial processes, influencing public opinion through deepfakes, and posing new challenges such as online harassment and algorithmic bias.

Students explored themes including AI and the Law, Cyber Law and Women’s Safety, and Ethical Use of AI, along with practical training on tools like ChatGPT, Cyber Dost, and other legal tech platforms. The session encouraged hands-on participation through real-world case discussions and live demonstrations.

Addressing the event, NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said, “AI and law must evolve together to protect citizens in the digital age. By equipping young legal minds with digital wisdom, we are investing in a more just and informed India.”

She added, “As we move toward the vision of Viksit Bharat, it is essential to recognise that India’s greatest strength lies in its young population - the thinkers, creators, and innovators who will define our digital future. In the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat, every student and every woman contributing to this vision strengthens the foundation of a self-reliant and progressive nation. That belief is also what inspired the creation of Yashoda AI — to empower India’s youth and women with the knowledge and tools to lead responsibly in the age of artificial intelligence.”

Future Shift Labs Founder Nitin Narang said “Law students are not just learners, they are future guardians of digital justice. Through YASHODA AI, we aim to spark critical thinking about the ethics, rights, and responsibilities in an AI-powered world.”

The Shimla workshop is part of YASHODA AI’s ongoing nationwide campaign to promote AI awareness and digital safety among youth and women, particularly in fields where human rights, ethics, and due process intersect with technology.
