Dasna temple priest Yati Narsinghanand was placed under house arrest on Sunday, along with his disciples, to prevent their movement to a conference organised by Muslim cleric Tauqeer Raza regarding the Waqf Board Amendment Bill at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, according to an official source.
When stopped by the police, Narsinghanand and his followers began reciting the Hanuman Chalisa within the temple premises.
In a statement, the priest remarked, “Raza, Madni, and Owaisi take the Hindus’ gentlemanliness as their weakness. If they can gather a crowd to terrify the Hindus, then we can also stand in front of them.”
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wave City), Lipi Nagayach, confirmed that the priest and his disciples were restricted from moving on Sunday morning when they attempted to board their vehicles en route to Delhi.
The development follows Narsinghanand’s earlier call to the Hindu community to recite the Hanuman Chalisa at a Muslim gathering planned for Delhi.
