Shivangini Chaudhary, a grade 12 student of The Shri Ram School, Moulsari, has authored a book titled “Sir Buzz and Other Stories – A Retelling of Haryanvi Folktales”, which celebrates the vibrant storytelling traditions of Haryana and reintroduces them to today’s readers in a fresh, engaging way.

In a special meeting held in New Delhi, Shivangini presented a copy of her book to Minister of State for Culture Rao Inderjit Singh, who appreciated her remarkable initiative to preserve and promote India’s intangible cultural heritage. The Minister congratulated the young author for her deep engagement with her home state’s folk traditions and encouraged her to continue contributing to India’s cultural documentation efforts.

Speaking about her inspiration, Shivangini said, “I wanted to bring back the stories my grandparents told me — stories that hold the humor, lessons, and warmth of Haryana’s villages. I hope this book helps keep those voices alive for the next generation.”

The book is an outcome of Shivangini’s continued involvement in Project Virasat, an initiative focused on conserving India’s traditional art forms and oral narratives. During the pandemic, she worked with the children of Langa musicians in Barnawa, Rajasthan, raising funds to source instruments, establish a music library, and support a community music school. Her efforts were recognized by UNESCO and the Rajasthan Tourism Department.

“Sir Buzz and Other Stories” presents a rich collection of reimagined folktales that weave together wit, wisdom, and cultural insight—bringing Haryana’s storytelling legacy to a new generation of readers.
