Congress MP Deepender Hooda said on Sunday that his party's Haryana Maange Hisaab campaign demanding answers from the BJP-led state government will continue even when Parliament is in session, asking if there were no discrepancies in accounts then why was the ruling party afraid to respond to the Opposition's questions.
Hooda, who said he was satisfied to see the huge turnout at the rally, carried out a padyatra in the Bawal assembly constituency, starting from the gate of Charan Singh Agricultural University to Rewari Mod Mohalla Jatwada, New Sabzi Mandi Gate, Shaheed Bhagat Ram Chowk, Sir Chhotu Ram Chowk and Ambedkar Park on the seventh day today as part of the campaign.
Speaking out against the Central government's Agneepath scheme launched in 2022 offering four-year service to Indian youth in the Army, he alleged that the youth who used to protect the country's borders by joining the Army were today forced to cross the borders of other countries illegally through Dunki (people illegally sent to another country by stopping in different countries, usually referred to as the 'donkey' route).
He vowed to vowed to fight against the scheme in Parliament and said he would not rest until it was abolished.
People from all communities, including Kumhars, Jangids, Valmikis, Jats, Sainis and Punjabis welcomed the Yatra by showering flowers on Hooda and other padyatris.
The Congress leader also garlanded the statues of Shaheed Bhagatram, Chotu Ram, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar along the yatra route.
Highlighting the plight of the people of Bawal town, he said the roads were damaged, water supply was contaminated and the drainage system was non-functional.
“The Congress government built an IMT in Bawal and the BJP should tell us if any new industry has come here in 10 years,” he said.
“There is no word on the status of setting up an AIIMS. The BJP government could not even get the building of Manethi sub-tehsil repaired. The Congress government connected four cities of Haryana with a metro, why could the BJP government not build even a single pillar of the metro in 10 years?” he asked.
Hooda also alleged that ever since the Haryana Maange Hisaab campaign was launched government investigation agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation had started a parallel campaign against Congress leaders at the behest of the BJP government.
“The BJP government should not be under the misconception that the Congress will stop asking questions,” he stated.
“There is a wave in favour of the Congress in the state, which is why the party leaders are being targeted. The BJP government brings up non-essential issues to divert people's attention from important issues,” he alleged.
Alleging there was record unemployment, drug addiction and migration out of the state, Hooda also questioned why Haryana had become the capital of temporary jobs without reservation, without pension and without merit. “The BJP government abolished two lakh government posts in the state and 30 lakh government posts are lying vacant in the Central government,” he said.
“The posts that remained in Haryana were converted into temporary jobs without reservation, without pension, without merit through Agneepath Yojana and Kaushal Rojgar Nigam. By doing this, the BJP government has snatched the rights of SCs and backward castes through the backdoor. In the last five years, only 10,000 jobs had been created in Haryana, most of which were given to people from other states,” he said.
“ The youth of Haryana have been entangled in recruitment scams and paper leaks. The youth frustrated by unemployment are getting trapped in the quagmire of drugs and crimes,” he alleged.
“Instead of providing facilities to the people, the BJP has made them stand in lines by entangling them in portals and IDs. When the Congress government comes to power, providing good employment opportunities to the youth of the state will be a priority,” he added.
Former MP Raj Babbar, MLA Chiranjeev Rao, Rajasthan Legislative Assembly MLA Lalit Yadav, former minister Jagdish Yadav, former MLA Jaswant Bawal, former CPS Anita Yadav, office bearers of Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, Seva Dal, NSUI, Congress frontal organisations, cells, local senior party leaders, a large number of local people and workers were present at the rally.
