In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, a senior police officer conducted a comprehensive review of the security arrangements at prominent tourist destinations near Jammu, officials said on Wednesday.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range, Shridhar Patil, visited the popular hill stations of Patnitop, Nathatop, and Sanasar—located along the old alignment of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway between Udhampur and Ramban districts. These locations attract tourists throughout the year and are now under enhanced security scrutiny.
Accompanied by Ramban Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulbir Singh, as well as officials from the Patnitop Development Authority and the Tourism Department, DIG Patil reviewed the current security measures in place for the security of the visitors, a police spokesperson said.
During his visit, the DIG held an interactive session with key stakeholders, including representatives from hotel and trekking associations, local residents, and former sarpanches. The participants were briefed on the existing security arrangements and discussions were held on steps needed to further bolster safety and coordination among various stakeholders.
Emphasising the importance of ensuring safety and comfort of the tourists, DIG Patil highlighted the need for enhanced surveillance and better coordination between the police and the civil administration, especially in preparation for the upcoming tourist season.
He said the visit reflects the administration's commitment to promoting Patnitop, Nathatop and Sanasar as secure destinations for tourists from across the country.
