The Bar Council of India (BCI) has dissolved the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) and constituted a three-member special committee to take over its functions and conduct fresh elections by January 31, 2026. BCI took this decision after observing repeated delays in the verification of credentials of its members impacting efforts to weed out illegal lawyers practicing in the city.
