French PM Bayrou loses trust vote over debt crisis, set to quit

Bayrou had initiated the confidence vote himself, hoping to gain support for his plan to reduce the deficit, which has swelled to nearly double the European Union’s 3pc limit. France’s debt has now climbed to about 114 percent of its GDP.
