Losses on petrol rise to ₹18 a litre, diesel losses mount to ₹35

State-owned oil firms were incurring losses of ₹2,400 crore per day at the peak last month, which have since narrowed to ₹1,600 crore daily after the govt cut excise duty on petrol and diesel by ₹10 per litre
