The Ministry of Heavy Industries is advancing the indigenous manufacturing of chemistry cells as part of its electric vehicle initiative and will soon issue a 10 gigawatt request for proposals (RFP) to enhance grid-scale energy storage capabilities with advanced chemistry cells.

Under the scheme, a subsidy of Rs 10,000 per electric 2-wheeler will be provided, with the aim of extending support to approximately 3.3 lakh 2-wheelers. Small electric three-wheelers, including e-rickshaws and e-carts, will receive a subsidy of Rs 25,000 per vehicle, benefitting over 31,000 such vehicles.
