It is also alleged to portray separatist leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Masarat Alam and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a positive manner. The BJP has further alleged that the book contains references praising Hafiz Saeed, accused of masterminding the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

The ban on Tehreek-e-Hurriyat under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act was confirmed on June 22 by a tribunal headed by Justice Sachin Datta of the Delhi High Court. Another tribunal led by Justice Datta confirmed the ban on the Muslim League Jammu and Kashmir (Masrat Alam faction) under the UAPA.
