Former WB economist Basu calls for welfare focus in Budget

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Budget for 2024-25 in the Lok Sabha on July 23. Basu suggested that the rich could afford higher taxes, and using this revenue to support the manufacturing sector could significantly boost labor demand, aid small businesses, and increase the income of ordinary people.
