The day has arrived as Apple officially launches the iOS 18.2 version for eligible iPhone users. This update is important for those with the iPhone 15 Pro or newer models, as well as M-series iPads and Macs, as the Apple Intelligence updates are now available as the company promised.
The beta version of iOS 18.2 already indicated that Apple is diligently working to expedite these features. Now, more users can access them on their Apple devices once they update to this new version.
At the WWDC 2024 keynote, Apple and OpenAI announced their partnership to integrate ChatGPT into iPhones, and we are finally witnessing the results with the iOS 18.2 beta release. Siri is now capable of delegating certain AI tasks to ChatGPT, which will subsequently send data from Apple’s servers.
Additionally, Siri can answer questions about the image displayed on the screen and provide you with details. However, Apple makes it clear that if you use ChatGPT without an account, OpenAI will not keep a record of requests or utilise that data for training its models.
With the release of iOS 18.2, iPhone users can now create Genmojis, a feature that was previously limited to merely viewing and obtaining information about them. Genmoji shares similarities with regular emojis but carries a distinct Apple touch.
Apple's intention behind including the camera control button on the iPhone 16 series is to enhance the visual intelligence of its AI functionalities. Simply pointing the camera at a café enables users to retrieve reviews, gather more information about locations, and even engage with ChatGPT through various inquiries.
“Camera control also enables users to search Google for purchasing options or leverage ChatGPT’s analytical skills to request explanations for complex diagrams," the announcement states.
Apple is expanding its AI capabilities to assist users in creating written content. The feature, Describe Your Change, offers even greater flexibility and control for those looking to make their writing more expressive.
