Pune-based Two-wheeler giant Bajaj Auto on Friday said that they are creating a range of clean fuel CNG bikes, with the first hitting the market in June.
MD Rajiv Bajaj said, “The bike will operate on CNG and will be available in June, he added, as part of the Bajaj Group's promise to spend Rs 5,000 crore on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) over the next five years.”
The new motorcycle is planned to be launched under a different brand and aimed at mileage-conscious consumers.
CNG motorcycles are predicted to be more expensive than petrol bikes due to increased production costs, as well as having a specific tank that offers both petrol and CNG fuel alternatives for consumers' convenience.
Meanwhile, the Bajaj Group has committed Rs 5,000 crore to social impact projects over the next five years, with an emphasis on skill development, as part of 'Bajaj Beyond', the Group's new brand for all its CSR and humanitarian activities.
This will help nearly 2 crore of tomorrow's youth, allowing them to take advantage of the job and entrepreneurial possibilities available in India's rising economy.
"Social responsibility has been strongly ingrained in the Bajaj Family's companies and charity efforts for centuries.
In the previous decade alone, the Bajaj Group has committed about Rs 4,000 crore to CSR efforts primarily focused on skilling and education, health, livelihood, water conservation, and a variety of other areas of development," said Chairman Niraj Bajaj.
He said "You cannot change the world via sloganeering. Saying "Make in India," "Atmanirbhar," "vocal for local," and "Viksit Bharat" do not alter the world.
"Mere words will not alter the world unless you can turn those words into action. It would not alter the world if I said I would spend tens of thousands of crores of rupees on CSR or that I wanted to improve billions of lives," he added.
