Matt Anderson, curator of transportation at the Henry Ford Museum, describes BYD's growth as unparalleled in recent automotive history, likening it to the post-war expansion of General Motors.

 

Based in Shenzhen, the heart of China's electronics industry, BYD has leveraged the country's dominance in electrical products to gain a competitive edge.

 

China's strong support for electric and hybrid cars has helped BYD thrive, these eco-friendly vehicles now constitute a significant portion of China's car market, with projections indicating further growth.

 

BYD's success highlights the potential of Chinese automakers to disrupt the global automotive landscape. With ambitious plans to establish assembly lines in multiple countries and expand exports to Europe, BYD is poised to challenge traditional incumbents like Volkswagen Group.

 

While BYD's cars are not yet available in the United States due to lingering trade barriers, the company has made inroads with its electric buses, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable transportation solutions on a global scale.
