Google Chrome, the widely used browser among billions globally, is introducing a new feature that will enable users to quickly assess the reliability of a website.
As per the well-known tipster Leopeva64 on X (previously Twitter), Google is developing a new AI-driven feature for Chrome named “Store reviews” that will provide users with a “summary of reviews from independent sites like Trust Pilot, Scam Advisor, and others.”
In the post below, you can see that this forthcoming feature will be accessible via the site settings button located to the left of the URL in the address bar. It appears the functionality is still in development, as clicking it opens a blank floating panel that displays a message at the bottom stating that Chrome will utilise AI to create a summary of the website’s reputation from independent sources like Trust Pilot, Scam Advisor, Google, and more.
In addition to the capability to evaluate a website's trustworthiness, Google is introducing several other AI-driven features, including AI-powered protection, which provides real-time safeguards against potentially harmful websites and downloaded files.
Nevertheless, the future of Chrome is in question following a proposal from the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) and several states to address “Google’s unlawful monopolisation,” which may compel the tech giant to divest Chrome within six months of the ruling.
