Google to partner with Telangana government on digitization initiatives

The google executive highlighted that his company posesses advanced technology and expertise capable of delivering high-quality services tailored to the needs of people in Telangana.

Global technology giant Google, currently constructing it's largest campus outside of the United States in Hyderabad, is set to collaborate with the Telangana government to advance a digitization agenda ecompassing farming, education and health sectors.

 

The particulars of this initiative were deliberated upon during a meeting held at the residence of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad. The company's Vice President Chandrashekhar Thota, engaged in discussions as part of a courtesy call, according to officials. 

 

The google executive highlighted that his company posesses advanced technology and expertise capable of delivering high-quality services tailored to the needs of people in Telangana. 

 

He stressed upon the transformative potential of emerging technologies like Artifical Intelligence in improving lives and business operations, he assured the Chief Minister that Google is committed to ongoing collaboration with the state government on various initiatives, along with expanding it's operations. 

 

During the meeting, the Chief Minister outlined strategies for enhancing road safety utilizing Google Maps and Google Earth platforms. Ministers D.Sridhar Babu and Komatireddy Venkatreddy were also present at the gathering. 

 

Meanwhile, representatives from the global e-commerce major Amazon met with the Chief minister to discuss the company's investment and expansion plans in the state.

 

Discussions centered around Amazon web services(Asia-pacific region- Hyderabad) and it's plans to augment it's investment from the previously committed Rs.20,096 crore in 2020 to Rs. 36,300 crore by 2030. This stands as one of the highest foreign direct investments in Telangana. The company announced this plan in January 2023, and the chief minister inquired about the progress of these exapansion plans. 

 

Further the Amazon Web series team conveyed to Revanth Reddy that it intends to invest in three data center campusesat Chandanvelly, FAB city and Yacharam, located in the city outskirts, in phases. 

 

These three data centres form an integral parts of AWS's efforts to fortify it's cloud infrastructure, providing enhanced services to it's Indian and overseas clients and offering more cloud regions for selection. 

 

The initial phase of all three data centres have been completed, making cloud services accessible to users. The establishment of these data centres is expected to promote innovation and growth for numerous enterprises, startups and public sector organizations in India.

 

In addition the data center investments, Hyderabad remainds a favored destination for Amazon in India. Both AWS's largest global campus and Amazon's intial and one of it's largest fulfillment centers are situated in Hyderabad. 

 

The state government is actively collaborating with AWS's cloud practice and has hosted several projects on AWS, leveraging the advantages of cloud-computing to enhance e-governance, healthcare and muncipal operations for the public's benefit.
