Google is reportedly considering to rebrand it’s generative AI-powered chat bot ‘Bard’ to ‘Gemini’ next week.
The tech giant is said to be preparing to launch Bard Advanced- it’s powerful AI chatbot that will be powered by Gemini Ultra, it’s largest and most capable model for highly complex tasks.
Gemini Ultra, was announced in the year 2023, which is the largest and most capable system based on the Gemini 1.0 model, specifically optimised to carry out highly complex tasks such as advanced reasoning, coding and solving mathematical problems.
This potential rebranding was also hinted by Android app developer Dylan Roussel in a post on the platform X stating, “Google added a new changelog for Bard, and it’s a big one, the availability in Canada is awesome, that said I don’t really understand the limitations with the app, that’s disappointing as someone who lives in Europe”, Dylan confirmed by sharing the link of Gemini.
A purportedly leaked photo of a changelog dated February 7, 2024, provides insights into the upcoming features as well.
The ‘Advanced’ tier powered by Gemini Ultra, is speculated to compete or surpass Open AI’s GPT-4, operated by Chat GPT Plus and Microsoft Copilot AI chatbots.
After the rebranding is completed, Google’s AI chatbot will likely to have an Android App. The report stated that the app would be similar to Google’s assistant app.
The app is anticipated to be available only in the US on select devices, including Pixel devices and Galaxy S24 series.
