The India International Science Festival (IISF) 2023 is all set to host the groundbreaking Science & Technology Media and Communicators Conclave starting January 18th to 19th at the THSTI-RCB Campus in Haryana's Faridabad. The unique event is poised to bridge the gap between journalism and science, showcasing the shared connection between the two domains.

 

The event will be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh, who will set the stage for insightful discussions. 

 

President of Amity STI Foundation Dr. William Selvamurthy, is scheduled to deliver a keynote address, while Advisor to the Prime Minister of India Tarun Kapoor, Director General of CSIR, Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, National Secretary of Vijnana Bharati, Shri Praveen Ramdas and Director of CSIR-NIScPR Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, will grace the occasion.

 

The conclave aims to boast distinguished speakers, with media stalwarts such as Raj Chengappa of India Today, Vijay Joshi of Press Trust of India (PTI), and Press Registrar of India, RNI, Bhupendra Kainthola alongside senior science journalists like Shri Pallava Bagla would be sharing their invaluable experiences.

 

A highlight of the event is the "Science through Cinema Session," where acclaimed filmmakers, actors, and professionals, including Abhijeet Satam, Nandan Kudhyadiand, Abhijit Mulye, Matiur Rahman, and Prof. Chaitanya Giri, will explore the fusion of 'Science and Cinema.'

 

The conclave would also feature a Master Class for Journalism Students, offering a unique opportunity to grasp the intricacies, responsibilities, and ethics of science reporting, as well as good practices of social media in this context.

 

Panel Discussions on the significance of media in India’s science diplomacy and ways to enhance the representation of Science & Technology in media are expected to foster meaningful conversations.
 
The key takeaways from the event would include facilitating discussions between mainstream journalists and science practitioners, delving into the scope and challenges of science journalism, and providing valuable insights to journalism students on the intricacies and ethical aspects of science reporting.

 

Organized by the Science Media Communication Cell (SMCC) at CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication & Policy Research (NIScPR), the conclave's objective is to disseminate and showcase India's Research and Development breakthroughs along with achievements in the field of scientific achievements on various media platforms.

 

The India International Science Festival 2023 is a confluence of intellect, encouraging collaboration and understanding between journalism and science communication. Journalists, scientists, and media students are invited to participate in this novel event.
