Indian Immunologies Limited (IIL) marks a new milestone in veterinary vaccine production

Ceremony of IIL's Greenfield Animal Vaccine Manufacturing Facility held at Genome Valley, Hyderabad


In a significant move towards advancing veterniary healthcare, Indian Immunologies Limited(IIL) has commenced the construction of a state of the art Greenfield animal vaccine manufacturing facility at genome valley, Hyderabad. This facility is designed for the production of foot and mouth disease vaccine(FMD-Vac) as well as foot and mouth disease + Haemorrhagic septicaemia vaccine(FMD+HS-Vac)

 

The facility is located at Biotech park, Phase III, Karkapatla, Siddipet district, Telangana, India. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on 29th December, 2023.

 

Indian Immunologies Limited (IIL) spearheaded this initiative, one of India’s foremost biotechnology companies, with Telangana state industrial infrastructure corporation ltd( TSIIC) playing a crucial role by allocating the land for the same. 

 

Meenesh Shah, chairman of NDDB and IIL, affirmed “IIL continues to fulfill the purpose for which it was created by NDDB as a world class vaccine manufacturer. This new vaccine manufacturing facility in Hyderabad is dedicated to the nation and will certainly aid in the eradication of Foot and Mouth Disease in our country. IIL's ability to discover and manufacture affordable vaccines has saved the exchequer several thousand crores of rupees' 

 

The facility further aims to contribute significantly to advancing veterinary healthcare by manufacturing vaccines for foot and mouth disease. With an investment of approximately INR 700 cr, it is expected to create over 750 direct and indirect jobs, thereby contributing effectively to the local economy.

 

 The initiative aligns with IIL’s commitment to combating animal disease and saving public funds. 

 

Anand Kumar, managing director of IIL, highlighted “As the largest supplier of FMD vaccine to the government of India’s esteemed livestock health disease control programme (LHDCP), we are currently experiencing rapid growth and anticipate a 40% expansion this year. To further maintain this momentum, IIL is actively exploring investment in enhancing infrastructure both in India and emerging regions, such as Africa. Our focus is on developing tools that contribute to the effective control and eradication of diseases”

 

Indian Immunologies Limited, a subsidiary of the national dairy development board (NDDB), has been a frontrunner in the “One Health” domain, exporting its products to over 60 countries. 

 

The groundbreaking ceremony witnessed the presence of NDDB officials, IIL board members and employees.
