MeitY to hold first-ever Digital India futureSKILLS summit in Guwahati

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) is set to host the inaugural Future Skills Summit in Guwahati on February 15, 2024.

 

The summit will be inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Jal Shakti, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, will bring together a diverse array of participants including young Indians, thought leaders, industry experts, policymakers, educators, and technology enthusiasts. They will deliberate on strategies to catalyze future-ready talent for India and the world.

 

At the heart of the discussions will be the profound impact of rapid digitization worldwide, with a spotlight on the emergence of new opportunities in cutting-edge technologies such as AI, ML, Semiconductors, Robotics, and Cybersecurity, with an aim to offer tremendous potential for young Indians to thrive in the global technological landscape.

 

The summit aims to chart a roadmap aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to position India as a global talent hub and leverage the opportunities presented by emerging technologies.

 

A key objective of the summit is to foster partnerships between industry and academic institutions nationwide, ensuring that educational curricula closely align with industry demands and standards.

 

In pursuit of this goal, the summit will witness the signing of over 20 strategic collaborations between NIELIT and leading entities such as Intel, HCL, Microsoft, Kyndryl, IIM Raipur, IIITM Gwalior, Wipro, and others.

 

With more than 1000 prominent attendees and over 30 innovative exhibitions, the Future Skills Summit promises to be a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. Distinguished speakers scheduled to address the summit are Jaya Jagadish, Head of AMD India, Director of IIT Bombay, Kuntal Sensarma, Economic Adviser at MeitY among others.

 

The summit will feature four panel discussions on themes namely, Semicon India, IndiaAI, Cyber Security and Emerging technologies for future skills and India's talent for global workforce.
