Reliance Jio Infocomm’s chairman, Akash Ambani, on Wednesday revealed that the telecommunications giant is actively working in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay to launch a pioneering program named ‘Bharat GPT’.
The announcement was made during Ambani’s keynote address at the Institute's annual Techfest, where he emphasised the significance of fostering an “ecosystem of development”
“We have been working on a project with IIT Bombay to launch a Bharat GPT Programme”, stated Akash Ambani, he further emphasised that the long-standing partnership between Jio and the prestigious tech institution traces back to the year 2014.
He underscored the importance of AI in shaping the next decade. “At present, we have scratched the surface with large language models and generative AI, and the next decade will be defined by these applications”. He added
Detailing Jio’s commitment to AI, Ambani accentuated, “We are working very hard to launch AI not only as a vertical inside our organisation but also horizontally across all our sectors” He further revealed plans for Jio to introduce innovative products and services across media, commerce and communication.
Looking ahead to 2024, Akash Ambani marked the year as special for the family, with his brother’s impending marriage.
Additionally, he expressed enthusiasm about Reliance Jio’s foray into the 5G private networks, shedding light on their commitment to offering a 5G stack to enterprises of all sizes.
Ambani concluded on a confident note, declaring India as the “biggest innovation centre” for the next decade. He also predicted that the country would evolve into a USD 6 trillion economy by the end of the decade, underlining the company’s goals for a transformative journey into “Jio 2.0”
