The startup Rabbit has introduced the R1, a compact AI-powered device aimed to revolutionise personal tech. The pocket-sized gadget, reminiscent of a half-flip phone, boasts a 2.88-inch LCD touchscreen and a unique rotating camera for versatile photo and video capture.
The product has been developed in collaboration with Teenage Engineering. The RI takes a distinctive approach, resembling a Humane AI Pin. Instead of traditional apps, users can control the device using voice commands, facilitated by a built-in voice assistant.
In addition, the clickable scroll wheel simplifies navigation through the intuitive interface.
Equipped with two microphones and a speaker, the R1 encourages interaction through a 'Push-to-talk' button, activating the voice assistant for seamless inquiries.
While the company claims an 'all day' battery life, details on its capacity remain undisclosed, drawing parallels to Humane AI pin’s approach.
CEO Jesse Lyu, in a video demo, shed light on the device's operating system, RabbitOS. Diverging from large language models like ChatGPT, the R1 employs a 'Large Action Model' for universal service triggering across platforms.
Lyu expressed the company's vision to provide a comprehensive solution transcending app and platform constraints.
The Rabbit R1 is a promising contender, challenging the conventional smartphones with its innovative design and functionality.
