WhatsApp Web users were left frustrated on Friday morning as a wave of technical glitches made it nearly impossible to log in or sync chats. According to the monitoring site Downdetector, complaints began to flood in around 9:00 am, with many users in India finding themselves locked out of the desktop service.
The disruption appeared to peak early on, with a significant spike in reports around 8:54 am. As is often the case with such outages, disgruntled users quickly flocked to X (formerly Twitter) to vent their annoyance. One exasperated user asked, “Is WhatsApp down for everyone?!!! Been trying to link my iPhone and devices for an hour now.”
The issues weren't just a fleeting blip, either. Half an hour after the initial reports, data suggested that the problems were persisting, with dozens more users flagging that the web interface remained unresponsive.
Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has yet to shed any light on what caused the hiccup. There has been no official word or status update from the tech giant so far, leaving users to simply keep refreshing their browsers in the hope of a fix.
