X social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has introduced a new feature called "Stories" for premium subscribers.

Stories leverages Grok AI, a large language model developed by a company affiliated with X's owner Elon Musk, to provide summaries of trending topics on the platform.

These summaries are based on the conversations surrounding a trending story, rather than the content of the news articles themselves.

This approach offers a unique perspective, showcasing the real-time pulse of the platform on a particular issue.

However, X acknowledges limitations in Grok's capabilities. A disclaimer beneath each summary warns users that Grok "can make mistakes, verify its outputs."

This transparency is crucial considering the potential for misinformation to spread on social media platforms.

The "Stories" feature integrates with the existing "For You" tab in the "Explore" section. This section personalizes content for users based on their interests.

Tapping on a story within "For You" will display the Grok-generated summary, eliminating the need to navigate away from the platform to access news articles.

While summarising trending news isn't a novel concept, X's method is unique.

Previously, under Jack Dorsey's leadership, Twitter curated summaries and pinned relevant tweets to provide context.

This shift towards AI-powered summaries reflects the growing influence of artificial intelligence in the social media landscape.

The launch of "Stories" coincides with X's development of other innovative features.

Recent additions include a video conferencing solution similar to Google Meet and an expansion of the "Community Notes" feature to India.

These developments suggest a commitment to platform evolution at X.
