In the midst of the election fervour, a mishappening took place in Rajasthan. Chhaganlal, an 80-year- old man collapsed before he could exercise his right to vote.

The state engaged in the exercise of electing representatives for its 13 Lok Sabha seats with a turnout of 40.39% till 1 PM on Friday.

The incident took place in Pur town, located in the Bhilwara district, where the voter accompanied by his grandson participated in the democratic process.

However, the fate had a different plan, Chhaganlal succumbed to a sudden bout of dizziness while standing in the queue at the community centre designated as a polling station.

Despite the swift medical intervention, including the arrival of onsite doctors, Chhaganlal couldn’t be revived leaving a reminder of the fragility of life amidst the electoral fever.

In the state, Banswara emerged at the forefront with the highest percentage, standing at 30.04% closely trailed by Barmer, Jhalawar Karan, and Jalore.

Adding to the severity of the event, adverse weather conditions characterised by rain, strong winds, logistics hurdles has led to the displacement of party’s tents at several polling stations.

Aadibhit village within the Bansawra assembly stood silent as historical grievances regarding a nuclear power plant dispute overshadowed electoral enthusiasm. Similarly, Booth no.116 under the Dhurasani gram panchayat in Pali district witnessed a boycott, citing infrastructural inadequacies and a water crisis plaguing the locality.
