The Governor of Goa, PS Sreedharan Pillai, accompanied by his wife, Advocate Reetha Sreedharan, exercised their voting rights at a polling station in Dona Paula.
Governor Pillai shared his perspective on the grandeur of Indian democracy. He said, "Indian democracy is considered as the largest. After the 1977 elections, the world accepted India as the mother of democracy. The crux of democracy depends on the supremacy of the people. As far as people are concerned, this (polling day) is their day."
Expressing personal satisfaction with his decision to shift his voting registration from Kerala to Goa, Governor Pillai highlighted the importance of each vote in shaping the nation's destiny.
He emphasized the collective aspiration for India to reclaim its historical stature as the 'Vishwaguru', or world leader.
"Everybody wants India to become the 'Vishwaguru'. Before the arrival of the Portuguese and British people, we were the Vishwaguru. 29% of the world trade was controlled by our country. Now, we are the fifth economy in the world... So, we are progressing," Governor Pillai remarked.
