Supriya Sule, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Member of Parliament and candidate from the Baramati Lok Sabha seat, urged for peaceful and transparent elections as she cast her vote during the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media outside the polling booth, Sule highlighted the importance of upholding democratic values and ensuring an electoral process characterized by truth and transparency.
"In a robust democracy, the Constitution should be at the forefront, and elections should be conducted with honesty and transparency across the nation. As the third phase of voting progresses, it is imperative that it is carried out peacefully," Sule said.
Meanwhile, the NCP has nominated Sunetra Pawar, wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, as its candidate from Baramati.
Sharad Pawar, the Chief of NCP-SCP, also exercised his franchise at a polling booth in Baramati, previously voting at the Gangubai Kate Zila Parishad Prathamik School booth no. 224 Katewadi in the Baramati constituency.
Sunetra Pawar is contesting the Lok Sabha polls on an NCP ticket from Baramati against incumbent MP Supriya Sule, who is her sister-in-law.
Sule has previously secured victory from the constituency for three consecutive terms and is now eyeing a fourth term.
In the 2019 elections, Sule emerged victorious by defeating BJP candidate Kanchan Rahul Kul.
