Five days before the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar released a video message on Saturday, highlighting his government’s achievements over nearly two decades in office and taking a veiled dig at the Opposition, particularly the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
In the nearly four-minute-long video shared on social media, Nitish Kumar said his government had worked tirelessly with honesty and dedication to transform Bihar from a state associated with lawlessness to one of growing pride and progress.
“You have allowed me to serve the people of Bihar continuously since 2005. When we took charge, being called a Bihari was an insult. Since then, we have worked day and night with full honesty and hard work. Earlier, the law and order situation was very bad. The first task we undertook was to fix it,” the Janata Dal (United) chief said.
Nitish Kumar asserted that his administration’s approach had been inclusive, working for the welfare of all communities — Hindus, Muslims, upper castes, backward, extremely backward, Dalits and Mahadalits and not for his own family. His remarks were seen as a veiled attack on RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, whose party has often faced accusations of nepotism.
“The previous government did nothing for women. We have empowered women so that they are no longer dependent on anyone and can care for their families themselves. From the very beginning, we have worked for the development of every section of society. We did not do anything for our family. Today, being called a Bihari is a matter of honour, not insult,” he said.
The Chief Minister said Bihar had made significant progress in several areas, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, electricity, clean drinking water, agriculture and youth employment.
He said these improvements had been possible through the combined efforts of his government and support from the Centre.
“Full support from the Central Government, led by the respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is also being received in the development of Bihar. Only the NDA can develop Bihar. The pace of development has increased significantly due to NDA governments at both the Centre and the state,” he said.
Urging voters to support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) once again, Nitish Kumar appealed to people to ensure the alliance’s victory with a strong mandate.

“I request you to make the NDA candidates win with a huge margin of votes in this election. Give us another chance, and we will make Bihar one of the top states in the country,” he said.
He concluded his message by calling on voters to turn out in large numbers.
“On the upcoming 6th and 11th of November, you should reach your polling station in large numbers and cast your vote. Jai Hind, Jai Bihar,” he said.
Elections for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11.
By-elections for eight seats across seven states and Union Territories will also take place on November 11. Results for both will be announced on November 14.
