Five days before the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday released a video message highlighting his government’s achievements over the past two decades, asserting that he worked “for all and not for his family.”
The 74-year-old Janata Dal (United) chief took a sharp dig at the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), accusing it of presiding over a period of “jungle raj” during its 15-year rule.
Kumar said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government had brought significant improvements to law and order, development, and public welfare in the state.
“Earlier, the law and order in the state was very bad. Firstly, work was done to improve it. Also, the situation of education, health, roads, electricity, water supply, agriculture and employment for the youth has been significantly improved,” Kumar said in the video message.
Accusing the Congress-RJD alliance of neglecting women’s welfare, Kumar said the NDA government ensured their empowerment and independence through various policies and schemes.
“From the very beginning, we have worked for the development of all sections of society, be it Hindus, Muslims, upper castes, backward, extremely backward, Dalits and Maha Dalits. We have worked for all and not for our families,” he said.

Kumar said that being called a Bihari was once seen as an insult, but under his leadership, it had become a matter of pride.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support to Bihar’s progress, the chief minister said, “The PM Modi-led central government is giving full support to Bihar's development journey. Only the NDA can develop Bihar. The pace of development has increased a lot due to the presence of both NDA governments at the Centre and the state.”
Appealing to voters ahead of the two-phase elections, Kumar urged them to support the NDA to continue Bihar’s development. “Give us one more chance.
We will develop Bihar in such a way that it will be included among the top states. Therefore, please reach your polling booth in maximum numbers and cast your vote,” he said.
Bihar, which has 243 Assembly constituencies, will vote in two phases on November 6 and 11. Results will be declared on November 14.
Under the NDA’s seat-sharing arrangement, the BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each, while Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas (LJP-RV) will contest 29.
Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and Upendra Kushwaha-led Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) will each contest six seats.
