Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday visited the historic Takhat Shri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, in Bihar’s capital, Patna, and offered prayers at the revered Sikh shrine.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri accompanied the Prime Minister during the visit. After offering prayers, PM Modi greeted devotees gathered at the holy site, which holds immense significance for the Sikh community.

Patna Sahib, one of the key constituencies in Bihar, will go to polls in the first phase on November 6, followed by the second phase on November 11. The results will be declared on November 14.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Ratnesh Kumar from the Patna Sahib seat, where he faces Congress candidate Shashant Shekhar and Jan Suraaj’s Vinita Mishra.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister held a roadshow in Patna following his election rallies in Arah and Nawada. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was notably absent from the event.

PM Modi was accompanied by BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal and Union Minister and JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan during the roadshow.

PM Modi also paid floral tributes to the statue of noted Hindi poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar in Patna before proceeding to his next engagement.

Addressing an election rally in Nawada, the Prime Minister highlighted the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) poll promise to provide farmers in Bihar an additional Rs 3,000 on top of the existing Rs 6,000 provided under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

“The governments after independence did not prioritise small farmers. But this is Modi, ‘jinhe koi nahi poochhta, Modi unhe poojta hai’ (Modi worships those whom no one else cares about). In the last 11 years, our government has brought small farmers to the centre of agriculture policy,” the Prime Minister said.

He added that farmers and those involved in animal husbandry would receive a “double gift” under the NDA’s manifesto. “They will receive Rs 6,000 under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, and the Bihar NDA has announced an additional Rs 3,000 on top of that,” he said.

PM Modi also took a swipe at the Opposition, accusing previous governments of neglecting small farmers and rural communities. He asserted that the NDA’s farmer-centric policies and welfare schemes were aimed at empowering those who had long been ignored.

The Prime Minister’s visit to the revered Patna Sahib shrine and his back-to-back election rallies came as part of the BJP’s final campaign push ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.
