Among the constituencies, Arambag (SC) witnessed the highest voter turnout at 55.37 per cent. Uluberai followed closely with 52.79 per cent, while Hooghly recorded 50.50 per cent.

The poll panel claimed to receive 1,036 complaints from both TMC & BJP until 11 am.

Over 22.70 per cent of voters have exercised their franchise in Sitamarhi, 22.45 per cent in Muzaffarpur, 22.37 per cent in Madhubani, 20.75 per cent in Saran and 17.36 per cent in Hajipur till 11 am.

Chatra seat saw about 11.43 per cent voter turnout till 9 am while the same was at 12.04 per cent and 11.56 per cent in Hazaribag and Koderma seats, respectively.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and Hooghly candidate Locket Chatterjee has assured that her constituency remains peaceful, encouraging everyone to exercise their voting rights.

The incident came to light when a woman filed a molestation complaint at Uluberia Police Station on Sunday evening. 

By Sunday afternoon, approximately 60,000 polling personnel had arrived at their assigned destinations, ready to facilitate the voting process, according to Dhal.

Notable contestants include NDA ally Chirag Paswan in Hajipur, Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya, who is pitted against two-term sitting BJP MP and former Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy in Saran, and Muzaffarpur’s sitting MP Ajay Nishad.

Voting commenced in Bangaon (SC), Barrackpore, Howrah, Uluberia, Sreerampur, Hooghly, and Arambag (SC) Lok Sabha constituencies at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm.

Of the 6,705 booths, including 6,130 in rural areas, 73 are managed by women, 13 by persons with disabilities, and 13 by youths.

20 LS constituencies from Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Odisha will welcome voters on May 20. Stage is also set for 35 Assembly seats of the Temple City.

A total of 1,25,23,702 voters — 63,51,320 men, 61,72,034 women and 348 third-genders — are eligible to exercise their franchise in 13,481 polling stations across the seven constituencies.
