Soon after, Tanwar, who had joined the BJP earlier this year, walked onto the stage and it was announced that "aaj unki ghar vapsi ho gayi ha (today, he has returned to the Congress fold)".

He joined the Congress here in the presence of Partap Singh Bajwa, Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, the party said in a statement.  Bajwa formally inducted Singh into the party, it added.

Referring to the Congress' Haryana unit, he said, "Here Congress has become Hooda Congress. Even Rahul Gandhi has to come here with permission. I am told he (Gandhi) had some desire for an alliance (with AAP), but Hooda refused so it did not happen."

Notably, Chhoker is seeking re-election from the Samalkha constituency in Panipat for the Haryana Assembly elections scheduled for October 5.

Referring to the Agnipath scheme, Gandhi claimed that Agniveers would not get any pension and after four years of service, they would again have to look for employment. "This is what Modiji has given you," she added.

"They dont know about jawans, nor kisans, they only know the RSS' agenda. What else they know. No one is farmer in the RSS or BJP. This is why they don't understand the pain of the farmers," he said.

"While en route to this place, a man stopped me. He told me he runs a small business. He said Modi and the Haryana government destroyed him," the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said as he blamed demonetisation and "wrong" GST. 

"This is my final public meeting for this polls," Modi told the Palwal gathering, adding, "In village after village, there is a BJP wave. Everywhere, one voice is heard --"Bharosa dil se, BJP phir se".

Azad said, “I appeal to the people to vote wisely and choose their leaders and political figures carefully. The voters of Jammu and Kashmir have 11 to 12 hours today to cast their votes, and I appeal to all of them to cast their votes. I will not be speaking in favour of or against any party. The political party that comes to power will resolve the issues.”
