Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi reviewed counterinsurgency operations and security preparedness during a visit to forward areas in Jammu.

The Indian Army Chief, General Upendra Dwivedi, reviewed ongoing counterinsurgency operations and the prevailing security situation during a visit to forward areas on Sunday, officials said.

Officials said he discussed with security forces personnel the focused infusion of modern combat technology to further enhance operational capability, the Army confirmed on Sunday.

The COAS also attended a high-level security meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the White Knight Headquarters in Jammu on Friday.

The Home Minister then proceeded on his scheduled visit to the forward areas along the International Border in the Kathua district.

Meanwhile, the COAS toured the Counter-Insurgency Force (under the command of the White Knight Corps) to review the prevailing security scenario and assess ongoing operational preparedness.

In a post on X, the Indian Army’s ADGPI wrote, “He was briefed on ongoing counter-terrorism operations, the effectiveness of the security grid and measures undertaken to maintain sustained vigilance.”

The Counter-Insurgency Force (Romeo) is stationed in the security-sensitive areas of the Jammu division, a unit specifically trained to fight terrorists in treacherous terrain, forests, and high mountainous regions.

“Deliberations also focused on inter-agency synergy and the infusion of advanced technologies to further enhance operational capability,” the ADGPI said.

The Army said the Army chief commended all ranks for their unwavering dedication, professionalism and commitment to the nation.

“He praised the efforts of the security forces in maintaining an active state of readiness under challenging operational conditions.

The interaction reaffirmed the Indian Army’s resolute focus on vigilance, preparedness and operational excellence,” the post continued.

The visit came a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah concluded his three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir in less than a month.

During his trip, he also held back-to-back meetings with security and intelligence agencies and stakeholders from the Union Territory to assess the ongoing developmental works in Jammu and Kashmir.
