Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday inaugurated the Ayushman Arogya Mandir at the Tis Hazari Court Complex, marking what she described as a significant milestone for the capital's public healthcare infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of the initiative, calling it a “turning point” in Delhi’s healthcare journey. "This is a very big milestone for Delhi, from where a new turning point starts in the journey of the people of Delhi," Gupta said. She credited the central government for facilitating the project, stating, “This is itself a big gift that Delhi has received through the work of the central government, which the previous government did not provide.”
Taking a sharp dig at the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led administration, Gupta criticised the delay in launching the project. “The previous government should have started this work four years ago, but they never even entertained the thought of it. I consider this a big crime against the people of Delhi,” she said.
The Chief Minister noted that her administration had just eight months to complete the project but worked with determination to deliver a modern and permanent healthcare facility. She drew a contrast between the Ayushman Arogya Mandir and the Mohalla Clinics introduced by the former government. “This is very different from the Mohalla clinics that the previous government opened, which were nothing but temporary structures. We want to provide the people of Delhi with the best of health facilities,” she asserted.
Gupta further stated that her team was committed to transparency and efficiency, ensuring that “not a single penny made in the interest of Delhi is wasted.”

In a parallel event, Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa inaugurated another Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Budh Bazar Road, B Block in Chaukhandi. Speaking after the ceremony, Sirsa revealed that a total of 33 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs were inaugurated across the city on Tuesday. “A total of 33 Arogya Mandirs have been inaugurated today, and they have excellent infrastructure,” he said, highlighting the scale and quality of the initiative.
The Ayushman Arogya Mandir initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen healthcare access under central schemes. Earlier, on May 18, Delhi Minister Ashish Sood spearheaded a major health outreach under the Pradhan Mantri Vay Vandana Yojana by distributing Ayushman Bharat cards to senior citizens aged 70 and above in Janakpuri, West Delhi.
Speaking to ANI at the event, Sood said, “Chief Minister Rekha Gupta started the distribution of Ayushman Bharat cards. We are ensuring that the beneficiaries receive these cards so that they can avail its benefits.” He added that the initiative, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had already prepared cards for thousands of beneficiaries. “We are providing the benefits of card facility along with the list of hospitals, so that they can benefit from it by visiting those hospitals,” Sood said.
He also urged the public to help raise awareness about the Ayushman Bharat card, especially among the elderly. “Make them aware that they should go to their elders and their children in any other state where they can benefit from these hospitals as well,” he appealed.
